A FISHERMAN celebrated making a monster catch at Carr Mill Dam.
Robert Dyer says he caught a 27lb 10oz ghostie fish, while at the beauty spot on Friday afternoon, March 4.
The 36-year-old, who describes fishing as a “pastime”, was delighted by his personal best which he attributes to a recent change of tactics.
“I have fished for the last 20 years and have struggled to catch a big fish,” said Robert, from Clinkham Wood.

“I try to go locally, Carr Mill Dam is one of the hardest waters in the north west. I’ve fished for many years and not had much success until the weekend when it came to fruition.
“Recently I’ve been changing my tactics, I’ve put the bait in and done some other stuff to find out where the fish are.
“I ended up with the biggest girl itself. I caught a big one about 20 years ago, but this is the biggest one I’ve caught in the north west.”
Robert added: “I often fish with friends but on this occasion, I went on my own. I got that funny feeling that it was going to be the right place at the right time.
“Luckily enough the bailiff was around at the time who came round and gave me some tips.”
Robert had his picture taken with his catch before releasing the fish back in the water.
“It was one of the best weekends I have had fishing.
“I put it back, so I can catch it again.”
