FAMILIES in Warrington that believe they are eligible for support this winter are being urged to apply for funding.

The Household Support Fund was introduced in October 2021 to support those most in need this winter.

This funding has been made available to cover the period from October 6, 2021, to March 31 this year, and it can help to support households pay for food, energy and water bills.

All previous recipients of the Household Support Fund have been contacted to advise of the eligibility criteria.

Households with free school meal eligibility will receive £30 per eligible child for this month, while households receiving council tax support or housing benefit will receive £30 per household.

These residents and families will receive another payment in February in order to relieve the burden of winter bills.

Cllr Sarah Hall, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Winter can be a time of financial struggle for many people, but especially due to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and the soaring cost of living.

“This fund is available to help families in need in Warrington, and it can help to alleviate some of the burden of increased bills over the winter period.

“If you believe you are eligible for support from the fund, please apply online.”
