Speak Like a Native Chershire and Gourmand! cafe join forces

Speak Like a Native Cheshire, and Gourmand! café on Sankey Street have joined forces to offer a unique way of learning the language.

The former provides language learning under a fun, interactive and activity-based concept. Its team believe anyone can learn a language and everyone deserves the chance to.

Working with schools, community hubs, cafes and nurseries across Cheshire, the aim is to bring people together and enjoy learning in the community.

The sessions will be based at Gourmand!, which will have hot drinks and snacks will be available for purchase during each session.

Owner of Speak Like a Native, Deborah Lagar, who has lived in Warrington for 18 years, said: “I am truly thrilled to be able to offer our clubs to adults in Warrington, where not only can they learn the French language, but also taste true French pastries and coffees while they learn.

“It’s a unique way to offer a language club and we can’t wait to get started in January. It’s the first of its kind in the area and the opportunity to work with Gourmand! is something I’m very excited about.”

Both small businesses are keen to collaborate and bring a small piece of France to Warrington.

Gourmand! run by Olivia Le and Julien Ramos, a couple hailing from the French cities of Montpellier and Nîmes who have lived in Warrington since 2014.

The pair love food and want to introduce some classic and authentic French favourites to the county.

Throughout the year they will present seasonal specialities, some of them are linked to French traditions and they hope to create a real community hub for all fellow food lovers.

Olivia said: “We are really excited to collaborate with Deborah and Speak like a Native, and by welcoming the learners in an authentic French environment.

“We have many customers who like to spend their holidays in France or used to live there and enjoyed speaking French. Some of them want to be able to practice more so this is the perfect opportunity for them.”

French sessions are open to all adults and are aimed at a beginner’s level and began on January 19.
