TAKE a step back in time looking at these fantastic photos of RAF Burtonwood.

Life living and working at the base was captured in these pictures by photographer Eddie Whitham, who worked at the airbase in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Among the photos are aerial shots of the military base and the surrounding area taken while in a helicopter.

While some show the base as a workplace, packed with military jeeps and equipment, others show a different side with accommodation and even a bowling alley to entertain Americans based there.
