PASSENGERS were in complete shock yesterday evening as a large rock was launched at their bus and smashed through the window.
As passengers were sitting quietly on the 34 Arriva bus, a "huge rock" was thrown at the vehicle as it drove down Newton Road, near Southport Street, in Parr.
Smashing straight through the window, the rock caused caused significant damage to the bus but fortunately, no passengers were close to the window and no one was injured.
John Lee, 27, was on his way to the gym in St Helens town centre when the incident happened.
John said: "We were just sitting on the bus when all of a sudden a huge rock was thrown which completely smashed the bus window.
"The rock then fell onto the bus floor and rolled down to the front of the bus."
With everyone in complete shock, the bus driver pulled over to report what happened, and told all passengers to move to the front of the bus incase the glass smashed even more.
John added: "Everyone was shocked when it happened because the rock would have seriously hurt someone if they were sitting there - not to mention the glass which would have gone right into their face."
Merseyside Police confirmed the details of the incident and are now appealing for witnesses.
