A GRANDMOTHER was left in "shock" after a car crashed into her vehicle, causing it to spin round and hit a lamppost.

A black Honda Jazz "shot out" and smashed into the car on Saturday afternoon, January 15, at around 2.20pm, at the junction of Cecil Street, with Herbert Street, in Sutton.

The woman, who asked not be named, had been to pick up her grandson, 25, who was a passenger, up from his workplace.

Despite them suffering from injuries including whiplash and headaches, she said the two of them had been "lucky" not to have been more seriously hurt.

"I had been to pick my grandson up from Warrington at his work as I normally do," said the victim, from Sutton.

"We turned into Cecil Street and as you turn there is a junction at the bottom of Herbert Street.

"We were coming along Cecil Street and suddenly a car shot out of Herbert Street and it hit my car, causing us to spin round into the other part of Herbert Street and hit the lamppost there."

"I'm in tears all the time, I can't believe the mentality of anyone like that, they just drove off, they need to be found.

"The car is a write-off. We have been lucky really, somebody else might not be.

"It is unreal, I just keep reliving it. I am thankful to friends and family for helping us and everybody in the community that has helped us.

"I feel like I am still in shock."
