There was more success for clubs from the Birkenhead Sunday League in The Cheshire County FA Sunday Challenge Cup, with another four clubs into the last eight of the competition.

So far that is five teams from seven into the quarter-finals.

Leading the way with yet another outstanding performance was Neston Nomads who had to travel to a tricky away tie deep into Cheshire.

But there were no troubles for Neston after inflicting a 5-1 defeat on a very physical The Bridge FC, thanks to a Casey Smith hattrick and singles from Luke Blondel and Ollie Dutton.

Bromborough Rake were the second team to travel and came back with a 3-2 win from their trip to Sale United. Kie Hughes and Kie Delaney were on the scoresheet, plus an own goal. Rivacre FC were the third side who had to travel away and they sailed to victory, sinking Adswood United 7-1.

A local clash saw Rock Ferry Social demolish Lancelyn Glenavon (Danny Dixon) 4-1 with Adam (Sabu) Smith (2), Liam Driscoll and Scott Connelly doing the all important damage.

There will be a sixth guaranteed team from the league as Great Float S&S will clash with local rivals Corsair FC next Sunday, while Dock AFC will play the final round three tie on Sunday, January 30.

The Dock bowed out of the FA National Sunday Challenge Cup after a brilliant game in front of an excellent crowd, at the home of Cammell Lairds.

Adam Bagley & Adam Hughes gave Dock a 2-1 half time lead. Campfield regained the lead to go 3-2 up but with five minutes left on the clock Matty Carlin equalised. With the match seemingly heading to penalties, Campfield went straight down the other end to gain a penalty which was converted. A superb match came to an end in the final minute when Campfield sealed their win 5-3.

Wellington FC marched into the final of the Wirral District FA Sunday Amateur Cup with a narrow 5-4 win over Vauxhall Motors Vets, thanks to a fine treble from Ben Dufton-Kelly and one each for Lewis Gouldson and Lewis Willingham. They will meet Sheridans in the final from The Wallasey Sunday League who outfought Poulton Victoria S&S (Jacob Wedderburn) 4-1.

Domestic cup action saw Corsair FC earn a place in round 4 of The Tony Houlihan Memorial Challenge Cup after a Kieran Cartwright strike was just enough to beat Victoria Colts 1-0.

Queens Park called the tune with a comfortable 7-2 win over Wirral Radio (Jack Gibson, Connor Egan). Finding the net for Queens Park were Harvey Sample and Tom Black - both with a brace each - and further efforts from Jordan Martin, Lewis Haddock & Liam Owen.

Also in the draw for the quarter finals is Woodchurch Hotel (Danny McLaughlin, Fynlee Eason, Josh Sheridan 2, Ross Rule, Jake Prescott, Shay Roberts) who eased through 8-1 over Wirral Athletic (Nathan Rule).

MSC Eastham (Jay Murphy) made their passage through to round three of The David Tacy Memorial Cup after finishing 1-1 at normal regulatory time with AFC Park North to take the tie on a penalty shootout.

KRCT FC (Dava Bowe 2, Stu Hardman 2, Brad Brady, Ant Gardner) secured a place in the Semi Finals of The Tony Smith Memorial Cup with a 6-1 verdict at Saughall FC.

Division Three basement club AFC Raeburn recorded a superb win in the Jimmy Core Memorial Cup 4-1 over Oval FC. Raeburn’s goal-getters were Joe Atherton, Matty Amey, Oli Cowdroy plus an own goal.

Only one league game from the Premier Division saw Great Float Sports & Social sink Beechwood FC (Mitch Duggan, Tom Gray) 3-2, to dent their chances of challenging for the title.

The Lukes (Declan Iverson, Ben Kearney pen) maintained pole position in Division One, registering a 2-0 away win at Upton Town and still hold a nine point advantage from Bushell Grange Athletic, who have a game in hand.

Bushell’s Farris Baker scored two headed goals and superb marksman Ben Glover notching the third in a 3-1 win at AFC Shaftes, who replied with a wonderful free kick from Eddie Jebb.

Neston United (Ben Pearson, Chris Bushell, Liam Jeacock) accounted for Lions FC 3-0.

Prenton FC shot down JPL Jets (Kevin Day, Callum Lavelle) in Division Two to dent their promotion prospects thanks to Luke Wynne with a pair and a Danny Amis strike.

New Ferry Rangers stayed on course for a promotion spot with a 6-2 verdict over Eagle Stirrup FC (Carl Griffiths, Finnley Hammill) while Silva Athletic (Samuel Davies, Kal Mwandwe) notched only their second maximum haul of points 3-0 at Barcodes.

Whitby Rangers made hard work for themselves in their push to maintain a promotion place in Division Three, beating West Kirby United (Ethan Cartwright 2, James Shaw) by the odd goal in seven 4-3.

Chipping in with the goals for Whitby were Gabe Kwateng with a brace and singles from Matty Vickers and Liam O’Brien.

Parkgate St Germain (Johny Gibson2, Jake Hennel) inflicted a rare defeat on AFC Tima 3-1 and may have put paid to playing Division Two soccer next season.
