TWO men have been charged after a burglary at a betting shop in which attempts were made to steal a safe.

The break-in happened at Coral Racing in Higher Parr Street, Fingerpost on Sunday night into the early hours of Monday, January 10.

Police said that unsuccessful attempts were made to steal a safe from the premises.

They said there were also efforts to steal a charity box.

Officers were called to the area and two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Dean Kermode, 39, Lee Kermode, 44, both from St Helens, were charged with burglary in connection with the incident.

They were remanded to appear in court.
