AN APPLICATION for a certificate of lawfulness to use a building as a family residential centre has been approved.
The bid for use of a building in Duncan Street, St Helens was sent by Christopher Kennedy, of Shape Care, to the council.
The building has an existing use as a small children's home, a planning officer's report said.
The application says that the firm's "senior management team has a combined experience of over 40 years in care provision across the north west".
It adds: "Our ultimate aim is for both mum and baby to leave our services having had fair opportunity, free from judgment and armed with tools to thrive - regardless of the outcome".
It says: "The Oval accommodation comprises a bungalow with six en-suite bedrooms which have been refurbished to a high, modern standard and can accommodate up to six families".
The certificate of lawfulness for the use was approved, meaning formal planning permission is not required.
