AN NHS worker is getting her street in the festive spirit this year by putting up a terrific light display for people of all ages to enjoy.
With a love for Christmas, Jenny Hull-Oliver decorates her house on Prescot Road every festive period, yet decided to go one further last year and join in with Willowbrook Hospice's 'decorate and donate' initiative.
The initiative was intended to raise some much-needed funds for the hospice after a year of lockdowns and restrictions meant that people were unable to fundraise.
Like many in St Helens, Willowbrook is a charity close to Jenny's heart and she wanted to get involved and give something back.
Continuing the tradition this Christmas, Jenny, 31, said: "Willowbrook is just a really great charity and I just wanted to give back what I can."
"They are amazing and they really took care of a family friend a couple of years ago."
Adding to her decorations whenever she can, Jenny said that she has raised just under £100 for Willowbrook through in-person donations and an online just giving page.
The Santa Sleigh in her front garden is inspired by a sleigh she used to walk past every Christmas as she grew up, and she explained that lots of kids love coming in and getting a photo inside.
Receiving lovely feedback from parents and families, Jenny added: "It's just been really nice to make people happy and bring some smiles.
"I am always grateful for anything that anyone can donate but this really brought a tear to my eye and I just wanted to say thank you."
Jenny encouraged anyone who hasn't yet seen her display to come and visit before the festivities are over, which is located on Prescot Road between The Grapes pub and Carmel College.
