FAMILIES flocked to St Helens over the weekend to meet Santa and his reindeers in the run up to Christmas.

People of all ages were in all smiles as the festive fun day brought some well needed Christmas cheer to the town.

The fun day is just one of the festive attractions organised by the Council this month, which has also included the Christmas lights switch on, the ice rink on Chalon Square, festive films at the drive-in cinema and Santa in his grotto.

If you missed out on the event this weekend, don't worry as Santa and his trusted reindeers will be back in the borough later this month.

They will be ready to hear all your Christmas wishes in Earlestown centre on Saturday, December 18 from 10am-2pm.

Visitors are asked to take a lateral flow test before attending this event and are told not to attend if you are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms, even if mild.

In the run up to Christmas, Santa will also be in his grotto in Church Square every day from Saturday, December 18 until Christmas Eve.
