PLANS have been drawn up to convert office facilities into supported accommodation for care leavers.

Proposals for the change of use of the units in Millersdale, Clock Face, including a single-storey rear extension have been submitted by Torus Housing.

The site is located on Millersdale, off Lindale Drive and plans say "the existing buildings are/have been let out to several tenants

for a mix of uses".

A design and access statement on behalf of the applicant says: "The new proposed scheme is for a refurbishment and extension of the existing terrace into six one-bed apartments with two being disabled accessible and communal facilities with a staff stayover apartment.

"The scheme aims to provide the residents with access to safe facilities to learn and gain life skills after leaving their primary residence due to circumstances".

Plans concluded: "We believe this scheme provides a safe space for vulnerable members of society and will give them ample opportunity to strike out on their own.

"Given the current use of the scheme, we believe the application would not have an adverse impact on the local residential area, with the removal of the shutters on the scheme and planting helping to soften the building and improve the look of the area".

The planning application is on standard consultation to the public until Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24.

A determination deadline has been set for January 26.
