YELLOW weather warnings have been issued for much of the country on Tuesday, with wind and snow expected to affect most of the UK.

A deep area of low-pressure moving in from the Atlantic, has been named Storm Barra by Met Éireann for the level of impacts expected for the Republic of Ireland.

As it moves in from west, the strongest winds and impacts are expected to affect the Republic of Ireland. 

It will bring strong winds and rain, with the rain turning to snow across northern England and Scotland. 

In St Helens a yellow weather warning is in place for wind on Tuesday.

There could be gusts of up to 45mph in St Helens from noon, with heavy rain too.

The Met Office is warning of potential travel disruption.
