A CHRISTMAS fun day will take place at the North West Museum of Transport this weekend, with artisan markets, food stalls and fair rides setting up next to the vintage vehicles on show.
The museum, based on Hall Street in the town centre, has been wowing crowds with classic cars, buses and other transport relics drove throughout over the generations.
Ran completely by volunteers, the museum welcomed hundreds of residents to their summer fun day in August, which was their biggest event since the pandemic.
Aiming to be 'bigger and better' than this, the festive family fun day will host vehicles such as Patricia, Johnny Vegas' glamper van from the Carry on Glamping TV show, a full size Lightning McQueen from the film Cars, and vintage Christmas buses that will drive guests around the town.
In addition to this, there will be a "huge" Artisan market with independent craft and food stalls at the event, as well as an indoor Silcocks fair with fairground rides and other festive activities such as Father Christmas in his grotto.
In keeping with their usual artefacts, there will also be a railway exhibition and other antiquated vehicles available to view including horse-drawn carriages, motorbikes, fire-engines and more old-fashioned modes of public transport - highlighting the history of local transport in St Helens.
Raising funds to keep the museum in operation, the events will be £4 for adults and free for children - taking place from 10.30am-4pm on Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5.
