HERE is one from the Saints archives - an image of the team led by Eric Chisnall, ahead of their game against Warrington at Wilderspool.
The team then bossed by Kel Coslett, was a mixture of experience of youth.
Old heads like Chisnall, Roy Mathias, John Butler and Peter Glynn were joined by youngsters like Steve Peters, Kevin Meadows and Roy Haggerty.
They did have gifted players like Graham Liptrot and future skipper Harry Pinner.
Second row Peter Gorley, who had joined from Workington a couple of years earlier, was still in his prime with the test call up to prove it.
Note the big figure of burly Welsh prop Roger Owen on the far left.
