CONTROVERSIAL comedian Russell Brand has confirmed a show at St Helens Theatre Royal as part of his extended 33 tour.

The English comedian, author and actor, who is currently on the road with the same show, will visit the town on Tuesday, May 24 next year.

Tickets go on general sale at 12pm on Wednesday, November 17 via Ticketmaster.

33 follows Brand’s 2017 tour Re:Birth, and finds him reflecting on the weirdness of the last couple of years.

Brand said: “In my new comedy show 33, I am performing live in a room with you. I’ll be talking about the madness we’ve just been through and how we can process it together.”

After beginning his career as a comedian and later becoming an MTV presenter, Brand first achieved renown in 2004 as the host of Big Brother’s Big Mouth, a Big Brother spin-off.

Brand has also become known as a public activist and campaigner, and has spoken on a wide range of political and cultural issues, including wealth inequality, addiction, corporate capitalism, climate change, and media bias.

He has been the subject of frequent media coverage over issues such as his dismissal from MTV and resignation from the BBC, and his two-year marriage to singer Katy Perry.
