SAINTS have won the Challenge Cup and Super League double three times since the switch to summer - last season, 2006 and the inaugural success in 1996.

This image, on Day 12 of our Nostalgia November dip into the Saints pictorial archives, captures the moment the team celebrates after walloping Warrington to finish top of the pile in 1996.

Saints had been neck and neck with Wigan all year in the first ever Super League campaign and the first league title in 21 years was within touching distance.

Warrington stood in their way on the last day of the season - on August Bank Holiday. It was never in doubt with Tommy Martyn starting the ball rolling in the 66-14 triumph.

It completed Saints' first double since 1966.
