A man has been arrested and a firearm recovered after reports of an incident outside the Royal Liverpool University Teaching Hospital.
At around 10.20pm last night (November 3), concern for the safety of a man outside the hospital was reported to Merseyside Police.
At around 10.20am today (November 4) a man in his 60s was detained at the front of the location and has been medically assessed.
The man, a 61-year-old from Speke, has now been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm following the incident.
A handgun was seized and will be forensically examined.
A police cordon remained this morning, with road closures at the top and bottom of Prescot Street remaining for a short time.
Staff at the hospital have been directing patients and visitors accordingly and further updates will be available to the public when appropriate.
