The countdown to Christmas is on and what better way to spend it than at a festive market.

Due to the pandemic many Christmas markets did not go ahead meaning this year they are back with a bang and promise to be bigger and better than ever. 

The markets are filled with good food, local products and entertainment meaning there is something for all ages.

There are markets all over the area and we've rounded up the best ones for you to visit to get you in the Christmassy spirit. 

Some of the markets on in the North West

Manchester

When: November 12 – December 23

Where: Located all over the city centre, but the main hub is at Piccadilly Gardens

The famous Manchester markets are returning to the city and are definitely worth a visit.

There are more than 300 festive stalls selling food, drinks and items that are perfect for Christmas gifts. 

Chester

When: November 18 – December 22

Where: Town Hall Square, Northgate Street

Held in the historic town hall square, these Christmas markets will create a magical experience with locally made produce and traditional wooden chalets.

Sandbach

When: Friday December 3, 3pm-8pm

Where: Market Square, High Street and Market Hall

This traditional market includes a brass band, carol singers and mulled wine offering a Christmassy atmosphere to the town.

Altrincham

When: Tuesday November 21

Where: Greenwood Street, Altrincham

Altrincham’s legendary Christmas markets return this year running every Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday until Christmas Eve.

Featuring the best regional food, drink and live music, this one is not to be missed!

Knutsford

When: November 27 – 28, Santa’s parade and Christmas light switch on November 27 from 5pm

Where: Princess Street, Silk Mill Street and Canute Place

Knutsford Christmas Market is a two-day festive-filled event with a Santa’s Grotto and Christmas lights switch on.
