PLAYERS and supporters of Rainford Cricket Club enjoyed a 'Totally Wicked' night as they celebrated their 2021 season with an event at St Helens' home ground.

Lancashire, North West Thunder and Manchester Originals star, Ellie Threlkeld, who began her career with Rainford, presented the awards with the Players' Player awards going to John Dotters ( 1st X1), Mark Brook (2nd X1) Luke Evans ( 3rd X1) and Sarah Bate (Women’s Team).

Andy Pollitt received the Club Volunteer of the Year Award and there were special awards to Olivia Spencer and John Dotters Snr for their work as scorers throughout the season.

The Club have come through two seasons of Covid stronger than ever before and the future looks promising for all at the Jubilee Recreation Ground.

Despite losing out on promotion to the Liverpool Competition Premier Division on the very last day of their latest campaign, the club is eagerly looking forward to the 2022 season with an established women’s team, the development of a girl’s squad, an enthusiastic group of 45 Allstars (five to eight year olds) and an ever increasing junior set up newly sponsored by the Golden Lion pub.

Club secretary, Jen Brook, said “It was a great night with great people to round off a great season.

"We are lucky to have a wonderful group of helpers and parents at the club all providing great support”.
