POLICE were called out this morning after two ponies were on the loose on the St Helens Linkway.
Officers were alerted at around 6.50am today (Thursday) to the issue.
It is understood the ponies were loose near the junction with Sherdley Road.
The horses were returned to their field uninjured after around 20 minutes.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 6.30am today that two ponies were loose on the St Helens Linkway.
"Patrols attended and the horses were returned uninjured to their field at just after 6.50am."
