A MAN has been charged with motoring offences including driving while disqualified after a police chase.

Residents said they saw a Volvo being pursued by police on Saturday evening, October 9, before the chase came to an end in Earlestown.

Witnesses reported seeing the Volvo chased by numerous police vehicles, with the pursuit coming to an end at the King George V playing field.

The car had been pursued by officers from Sherdley Park, it is believed.

David Jackson, 40, of Tully Avenue, Newton-le-Willows was charged with driving while disqualified; driving without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with a licence in connection with the incident.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We have charged a Newton-le-Willows man with road traffic offences.

"The charges follow an incident on Saturday, October 9 in which a Volvo V50 was pursued from the St Helens area to the Earle Street area of Newton-le-Willows.

"The pursuit ended on the King George V playing field."

Jackson appeared at Wirral Magistrates' Court on Monday, October 11.

He was remanded on bail to next appear in court on Thursday, November 18.
