A 23-YEAR-OLD man was rushed to hospital yesterday morning after being injured in a suspected acid attack.
Emergency services rushed to Wigan North Western train station on Friday, October 1, after being made aware of the attack shortly after 10am.
Police reported that an "acid like substance" had been thrown at a 23-year-old man in the Wigan train station.
The man was taken to hospital with what have since been described as minor injuries.
The motive for the attack is unclear, yet Greater Manchester Police say it is an isolated incident which poses no wider risk to the public.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly after 10am on Friday 1 October 2021, police were called to reports of an assault at Wigan North Western Train Station.
"Emergency services attended and enquiries established that an acid like substance was thrown at a 23-year-old man.
"The man was taken to hospital with minor injuries [and] officers believe that this is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
