PLANNING a trip to enjoy Christmas lights during the festive season...well a short journey up to Southport's Victoria Park may be one to look at.

From November 25 to December 23, starting at 4.30pm each night, the park will house a light trail.

Visitors can expect 3D projections, light tunnels, a wishing tree, interactive light elements, a laser light maze and more.

The light trail will weave a 1.2km long route around the grounds at the park.

Visitors will be welcomed into a Christmas hub area where drinks concessions and festive street food stalls will be be based.

In previous years the Luminate event has been at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate and Margam Park in South Wales, which is a country park and castle.

Tickets for the light trail are booked on a starting time slot basis, but visitors can take as long as you like walking the magical trail.

Daniel Maycock, one of the organisers, said: "We are really looking forward to bringing this magical event to Southport and Victoria Park. It’s a beautiful venue, perfect for an enchanting light trail.

"The event is something new and different for the area, we hope most people won't have seen anything like it before – and we can’t wait to open!

"We look forward to welcoming people to this captivating event over the festive period and hope it becomes a favourite family tradition for years to come."

Tickets for the trail are now on sale, via the website www.luminate.live where you can also find more information.
