A MAN has been charged with GBH and criminal damage after police were called to a disturbance in which a woman reportedly suffered facial injuries.
Officers attended what they described as a "domestic incident" in Eccleston on Saturday morning (September 11) shortly after 6am.
Police detained a 27-year-old man and took him for questioning.
Officers have since charged Scott Whitehead, of Peter Street, St Helens with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and criminal damage.
He appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded back into custody.

Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We have charged a man following a domestic incident in St Helens on Saturday, September 11.
"At around 6.05am, officers were called to The Avenue, Eccleston to reports of a disturbance in which damage was caused and a woman sustained facial injuries.
"A man was found and detained, before being taken to a police station for questioning.
"Twenty-seven-year-old Scott Whitehead of Peter Street has now been charged with GBH with intent and criminal damage.
"Whitehead has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, October 11."
