READER pictures have captured the moments a thunderstorm broke out above St Helens.
Torrential rain - along with thunder and lightning - arrived shortly after 5.20pm across the town.

Flashes of lightning could be seen in the skies followed by rumbles of thunder.
Heavy rain fell causing a build up on some roads, however, the storm was relatively brief.
