KRISTIAN Woolf acknowledges that Morgan Knowles was ‘missed’ when Saints were defeated by Castleford Tigers on their last home appearance.

The England international played a starring role on his return in the 26-2 win at Wigan last Friday.

He never stopped working and topped the tackle count.

“He’s a terrific player,” said Woolf.

“We obviously missed him last week.

“He’s a real leader, he’s a real worker, he’s tough, he does all the things that you want him to do in the middle of the field.

“And what makes him a bit special is the fact that he can play with the footy as well.

“His all-round game as a 13, or what you call a loose-forward over here, is outstanding.”

Saints return to action at home to Leigh Centurions on Thursday.

Leigh, under the interim charge of St Helens man Kurt Haggerty, will be buoyed by having won their first Super League game of the season against Salford Red Devils on Sunday.
