THE Met office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms in St Helens tomorrow, Saturday.
The town is included in the places covered by the weather warning which is for between midday and 10pm tomorrow.
The Met Office says: "Many places missing the worst, but heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some transport disruption and perhaps flooding.
"What to expect
- There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
- Delays to train services are possible
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible, with possible damage due to lightning strikes
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses could occur."
The regional outlook for the coming days states:
Tonight:
Cloudy with rain, turning heavier and more persistent through the evening and into the night, accompanied by a brisk breeze, particularly at coastal locations. Remaining mild. Minimum temperature 15 °C.
Saturday:
Wet start to Saturday with rainy conditions persisting through the day. Heaviest rain expected in northern locations through the afternoon. Winds becoming light. Maximum temperature 19 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Drier conditions through Sunday, sunny spells possible between showers. Becoming much more settled into the start of next week, with dry conditions and sunny spells. Feeling warm in any sunshine.
