VANDALS have targeted St Helens' The World of Glass prompting a unique response from the museum's bosses.

CCTV footage released by the visitor attraction on Chalon Way shows two people outside the front entrance in the early hours of Sunday (August 15) morning at around the same time a door was vandalised.

In a post shared on The World of Glass' Facebook page, the museum said: "We are a charity, so it's even more upsetting to have to use our precious funds to replace a door that was purposefully smashed.

"It's grainy, but these are the two people involved in the incident. The one in the white shirt smashed the glass in our door. Perhaps you recognise them? Sunday morning 5.30am.

"If you see this post and you regret what you did and can't pay for the damage, then come and wash dishes for a few days."

The museum, which opened in 2000, focuses on topics relating to the history of St Helens, its people and local industries such as coal-mining and glass-making.

It was named as England's Best Small Visitor Attraction in 2006.
