A MAN who died after being stabbed in St Helens has been identified by police.
Lee Andrews, who was 33, died after he was stabbed on Monday night shortly before 11pm.
Police were called to the YMCA on North Road at 10.50pm following reports that a man had been stabbed.
He was taken to hospital where he was sadly confirmed dead.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Police are awaiting a pathology report.
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody where he is being questioned by detectives.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that a man who died following an incident in St Helens last night, Monday 2nd August, has been named as 33 year-old Lee Andrews.
"Mr Andrews, of no fixed abode, but from the St Helens area, was stabbed inside a property in North Road at around 10.50pm. He died in hospital a short time later. A post mortem will take place to confirm the cause of death.
"His next of kin have been informed.
"A 42 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
"An investigation into the incident remains ongoing."
