HERE are details of five cases heard recently at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court:
- A MAN who had a knife and assaulted a policewoman has been given a suspended sentence.
Paul Maguire, of Budworth Avenue, Clock Face pleaded guilty to various offences committed on February 28, 2021.
He indicated a guilty plea to having a knife with him in Liverpool and for threatening or abusive behaviour towards another person.
He also indicated a guilty plea to assaulting a police officer on that date and failing to provide a sample, contrary to the Road Traffic Act.
Maguire, 40, was given a four-month jail sentence for the knife, suspended for 18 months.
He received a six-week concurrent suspended sentence for the threatening behaviour and a three-month concurrent sentence for the assault of a police officer.
He must do up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity and was banned from driving for three years.
Maguire was made to pay a £120 fine for the failing to provide a sample and a £128 surcharge.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs, £100 in compensation for the assault and £75 compensation for the threatening behaviour, making a total of £508.
- A MAN who had a razor blade in his possession in public was given a community order.
Robert Taylor, of Albion Street, St Helens indicated a guilty plea to having the blade on him on May 28 on Grafton Street, West Park.
Taylor, 42, was sentenced to a community order and must have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months.
He was given an eight-week electronic curfew and must do up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity.
Taylor was made to pay a £95 surcharge and £85 in costs.
- A MAN who had heroin and a bladed article in his possession has been sentenced.
Kevin Pye, of Windermere Avenue, Clinkham Wood indicated a guilty plea to having a wrap of diamorphine (heroin) on May 28 and to possession of a bladed article.
Pye, 52, also admitted to using threatening words or behaviour towards a police constable and using threats or behaviour likely to cause harassment.
Pye was given a community order and must have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months and do up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity.
He was made to pay a £95 surcharge and £85 in costs. He was given a £100 fine for the abusive behaviour to the PC, making a total of £280.
- A MAN was fined for drink driving.
Joshua Hoyland, of Hard Lane, Windlehurst admitted driving a Vauxhall Corsa in excess of the alcohol limit on June 12 on Kirkland Street.
He was fined £200, made to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 in costs. He was banned from driving for 22 months.
- A MAN who pleaded guilty to drugs possession was sentenced.
Liam Fishwick, of Larch Close, Billinge indicated a guilty plea to possession of cocaine and cannabis on March 4.
He was fined £600, made to pay a £60 surcharge and £85 in costs to the CPS.
