A SPORTS commentator who kept everyone entertained during the coronavirus lockdowns has been serenaded on his 60th birthday by a singer-songwriter who made his name on BBC talent show Fame Academy.
Stuart Pyke, who can often be heard commentating on darts and rugby league on BBC 5 Live or Sky Sports, celebrated his landmark birthday with a surprise visit to his St Helens home from Alistair Griffin.
Using the hashtag #manwithamic, the now 60-year-old used his dulcet tones to bring some of the more mundane activities to life, bringing a little bit of entertainment to people’s homes as the nation was advised by the government to stay at home and save lives.
But it was Stuart who was entertained on his special day with Alistair, who was runner up on Fame Academy in 2003 and mentored by Robin Gibb from The Bee Gees, joined by friend Robert Smith as he stopped off at Stuart’s house on The Pastures last Tuesday, en route to a performance in Warrington as part of his tour of the UK.
Stuart, who has been a mentor for Alistair over the past few years, was serenaded with Here Comes The Sun as well as other favourites like Someday-Into The Dark, Beautiful To Me and What If.
