THIS stunning snap of today's stormy weather in St Helens was captured by Star reader Carl Doward.
Carl shared the atmospheric photograph with the Star on Twitter earlier today (Wednesday).
St Helens has been hit by downpours as the thunderstorms struck.

The Met Office forecast stormy weather in the region until tonight.
A spokesman said: “Showers, often heavy with isolated thunderstorms, may become more frequent across north west England during Wednesday evening and overnight.
“Some places could see 15-20mm of rain within an hour, and as much as 40-60mm over a six-hour period.”
