A YOUNG DJ and producer released his latest single 'Let Me Love You' earlier this month, collaborating with local singer and X Factor finalist, Kiera Weathers.

At 17, Eric McKenna - stage name 3RIC MCK3NNA - is a self-taught producer who has been honing his craft for around 5 years, as well as putting on his own events around St Helens.

'Let Me Love You' is a remix of the 2012 hit from hip-hop star Ne-Yo, reworked and produced as a "feel good summer dance track" by Eric in his home studio.

After meeting Kiera at one of his previous events, the vocalist - who appeared on the live shows of the X Factor in 2015 - was invited to collaborate and put her own spin on the record.

Speaking about the track, Eric said: "We've been wanting to get in the studio for ages, and just before Christmas we got in, not knowing what we were going to make.

"I had a little idea of the remake of Let Me Love You with Ne-Yo's vocal on it. I played it to [Kiera] and she loved it so we started to work on it."

With his music, Eric composes unique remixes of older songs as well as original material, collaborating with a variety of artists to produce the finished product.

Whichever direction his songs take, he explains they all intend to "provide the positivity [we] all need right now".

Although the past year has been difficult being unable to play any live shows - affecting those across the creative industries - Eric said the time has fortunately "gave [him] a lot more creative time in the studio" to work on his own music.

Alongside his personal projects, the producer also works with local collective MD Creatives, teaching music production and sharing his skills with other budding musicians.

Moving forward, Eric has a busy few months planned, with "a load" of live shows booked as well as more material to be released.

He added: "I'm just trying to push myself out there as much as possible. I've got a few more singles coming out over the next few months and I'm just trying to get my name out there."
