A MOPED rider and passenger fled the scene after being involved in a crash with a car.

A collision took place between a moped and a Ford Fiesta on Friday evening (July 23) shortly after 8.30pm at the junction of Gartons Lane and Bodden Street, Clock Face.

The rider of the moped is believed to have made off on the back of another bike, while a pillion passenger fled on foot.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We were contacted at 8.40pm on Friday, July 23 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a moped and a Ford Fiesta car at the junction of Gartons Lane and Bodden Street.

"The rider of the moped is believed to have suffered a leg injury and made off from the area on the rear of a second bike. A female pillion passenger on the moped is believed to have made off on foot.

"The driver of the car was not injured.

"Enquiries are being carried out.
