The K's pen soundtrack for Quadrophenia film To Be Someone

The Ks have described working on the follow-up to one of their favourite features as 'unreal'.

To Be Someone is in cinemas on Friday and features the cast of 1970s cult classic Quadrophenia including Leslie Ash, Toyah Willcox, Mark Wingett and Perry Benson.

It continues the original's celebration of mod culture and music.

The Ks were handpicked for the project as the Earlestown band are strongly influenced by The Jam so their music was considered a perfect fit.

As well as providing the full soundtrack, the four-piece appear on screen as well.

Lead guitarist Ryan Breslin said: "We got asked, fancy being in a film? Of course you want to – who wouldn’t want to sit on a film set getting dressed head to toe in smart clobber and have a makeup team sorting you out?

"To be asked to be a part of something like this and to use our music as the soundtrack for the film was unreal, we were made up.

"The whole film is ace, it’s like a modern day gangster comedy with a load of mods, what more could you want?

"It also has some of the cast from the cult classic Quadrophenia, which we all love, and to get the chance to work with them was amazing."

With its celebration of British mod culture and an iconic soundtrack by The Who, Quadrophenia cemented itself as a British classic.

Inspired by the iconic 70s film and based on the succeeding book by Peter Meadows, To Be Someone continues that celebration of 60s counterculture, with a modern day twist.

It has been directed and produced by Ray Burdis who produced The Krays and previously directed the Ray Winstone and Jude Law British gangster movie, Love, Honour and Obey.

Ryan, who is the brother of Slydigs bassist Ben Breslin, added: "The whole production team and cast really looked after us on set and made us feel right at home – we were the rookies and completely winged it.

"It was a new experience for us, acting to play a gig in front of a casted crowd.

"We absolutely loved it, being able to see how it's all done behind the scenes and to get to work with some amazing people that you’ve watched on the screen before.

"It looks class. I nearly rang George Clooney and asked him for a role in Ocean's Fourteen at the end of it all because I got that into it.

"It’s out in cinemas on Friday and everyone should definitely go and see it. Hollywood, if your reading, give us a bell..."

The opportunity follows the announcement that The Ks have joined the Solo Music Agency – joining the same roster as Beyoncé, U2 and Lady Gaga.
