ONE of Haydock Park Racecourse’s popular summer concerts has been postponed by more than a year.

The decision was announced this afternoon, Friday, due to the delay in the Government’s roadmap out of the coronavirus lockdown.

Former X-Factor star Olly Murs was due to perform at the venue on Saturday, July 17, 2021.

But this has now been pushed back to Friday, August 5, 2022 as a ‘precautionary measure’ by racecourse operator The Jockey Club.

In a statement, it said: “In light of the latest Government announcement, you may be aware that a delay to lockdown easing has been confirmed.

“Unfortunately, the Olly Murs concert at Haydock Park Racecourse on Saturday, July 17, 2021 falls within this four-week period.

“Due to the uncertainty surrounding the easing of restrictions for large outdoor gatherings and events, as a precautionary measure we regretfully announce that the Olly Murs performance at Haydock Park Racecourse this summer will be postponed to Friday, August 5, 2022.

St Helens Star:

“We know you will have been looking forward to this concert taking place this year.

“We are really sorry that we have to postpone it, but we promise it will be worth the wait.”

The Jockey Club confirmed that tickets will be automatically transferred to the 2022 date.

All ticket bookers should have received an email this morning, and are being advised to check their inboxes for further details.

Tickets for the new date are now on sale now at thejc.live/OllyMursHP

At present, the Tom Jones concert due to take place at the racecourse on Saturday, August 28 remains unaffected.
