A ROAD closure is in place after a collision involving a motorcyclist and a schoolboy this morning.
Police have shut a section of Millbrook Lane, Eccleston following the incident that was reported at 8.05am.
A 14-year-old boy has suffered head injuries and and the motorbike rider was also hurt.
A police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Eccleston following an RTC this morning, Thursday, June 24.
"At around 8.05am, officers were called to Millbrook Lane to reports of a collision involving a Honda motorbike and a 14-year-old male pedestrian.
"The pedestrian was taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
"The motorbike rider, a man in his 30s, has also been taken to hospital.
"The road is closed and we would ask people to avoid the area and take an alternative route."
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We took two patients to hospital: A 14-year-old boy with serious injuries to his head and the motorbike rider who suffered shoulder and hip injuries."
