HERE is a look at five recent cases at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court heard earlier this month:

- A MAN who obstructed a police constable in the exercise of his duty has been fined.

Ben Richards, of Thickwood Moss Lane, Rainford indicated a guilty plea to the charge.

Richards, 20, was fined £80, made to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 in costs.

- A MAN who drove after taking cannabis and without insurance was disqualified from the road for 15 months.

Gary Brown, of Windleshaw Road, Dentons Green pleaded guilty to drug driving and driving without insurance.

Brown, 31, drove on Sutton Road on October 26 last year with Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol,, an ingredient of cannabis in his blood.

He was also fined £120, made to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 in costs.

- A MAN who admitted to assault, making threats and taking a vehicle without consent has bene sentenced.

Karl Webster, of The Avenue, Eccleston pleaded guilty to assault of a female on Christmas Eve 2019.

He also pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour, taking a vehicle without consent of the owner and driving without insurance.

Webster, 36, was fined £518, made to pay £400 in costs and a £51 surcharge.

His driving licence was endorsed with six points.

- A MAN who admitted to harassment and making threats to damage someone else's car appeared in court.

Gary Martlew, of Merton Bank Road, St Helens admitted to harassment of a female by phone calls and emails.

He also admitted to threatening to damage a man's car through voicemail messages.

Martlew, 51, was given conditional bail until with the case adjourned until Wednesday, June 23 for a pre-sentence report.

-A MAN who admitted to making threats and causing criminal damage to a doorbell will be sentenced next month.

Philip Caine, of Ward Street, St Helens pleaded guilty to harassment of a female. he also admitted to damaging a doorbell belonging to the same victim.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report until July 20.

Caine, 47, was given conditional bail until then.
