I AGREE with the reader who praised the development of new food and drink venues for St Helens town centre.
We need a magnet for attracting people back in there. Unfortunately, given the decline in retail it’s highly unlikely we will see boat loads of shops setting up, particularly the big names.
A good food and drink offer may be the way to go, we may even see little independent stores and boutiques spring up off the back of it?
But it’s important the town centre is a nice environment and this is where the authorities come into play.
Please can the council make sure it’s as clean and presentable as possible and maybe come up with some ideas to make the environment more attractive.
And can the police deal with any anti-social behaviour and louts.
We may start to get somewhere then.
