A SUSPECT has been charged with exposure after allegedly performing a lewd act in a Warrington graveyard.

Dashcam footage revealed by sister title Warrington Guardian yesterday, Thursday, showed the moment a naked man was seen walking along Manchester Road – one of the town’s busiest routes.

The video appeared to show the nude male emerging from Warrington Cemetery before crossing the A57 near to the junction with Padgate Lane, in the direction of the former Chevy’s pub.

He had allegedly been disturbed by a passer-by moments beforehand as he performed a lewd act in the graveyard.

Cheshire Police have now confirmed that charges have been brought in connection with the incident, which occurred at around 11am on Wednesday, June 9.

Neil Howarth, of Leonard Street in Orford, has been charged with exposure.

The 48-year-old appeared before Warrington Magistrates' Court yesterday, Thursday, in order to face this count and has been remanded into custody ahead of a further court appearance next week.

A force spokesman said: “On Wednesday, June 9, at 11.09am, police were called to the cemetery on Manchester Road following reports of indecent exposure.

“Police arrested a man on Manchester Road, and he was subsequently charged with exposure.

“Neil Howarth, 48, of Leonard Street, appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on June 10 and has since been remanded in custody.

“He will next appear on June 16.”

In the clip, one shocked occupant of the car from which the footage was captured can be heard on camera to say: “He’s fully naked.

“That’s not allowed.”
