SAINTS will be without Welsh wing Regan Grace for Friday's clash with Hull FC at Totally Wicked Stadium.

The flier suffered  a head knock in the act of scoring in Perpignan and misses due to the concussion protocols.

But Kristian Woolf says the player has recovered really well - with no issues whatsoever - and expects him to pass his tests and be ready for the following week.

Woolf said: "At the time he was concussed and would not have been able to retake the field if there was longer left in the game - that means he needs to go through that protocol.

"Unfortunately he won't be available this week with the concussion protocols and with it being a short turnaround he won't make it this week.

"The indications are that he will be fine getting through the protocol and be fine for next week."

Although Grace is out, Saints will not be rushing back Tommy Makinson, who has missed the last two games with a foot injury, unless he is 100 per cent fit.

There were positive signs there, however.

"Tommy ran terrifically well today and looked sharp and moved really well.

"We haven't finalised that just yet but we won't be taking a risk.

"We certainly don't want to see Tommy out there and doing what he did last time and finding a new injury.

"We will get a bit of a gauge on that in the next day or so.

"If we are not 100 per cent confident he won't play - but if we are 100 per cent then he has some chance," Woolf said.

If Makinson does not come back in, Woolf would have no hesitation in pitching in Josh Simm.

"He has had a couple of runs with Leigh but is now back with us.

"We all know what sort of talent he has got and have seen his capability last year.

"If he gets an opportunity this week it would be a great one for him - a big game against a really good opposition.

"There is no better challenge for a player and he will do a great job," he said.
