A CLINICAL therapist who specialises in children’s mental health and well being can provide help, advice and support for anyone feeling anxious or stressed following the easing of lockdown restrictions across the country.

Les Roberts opened the Centre of Hypnotherapy and Wellbeing on Hardshaw Street in St Helens in January last year but quickly had to close her doors and stop face to face sessions as the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

She is a clinical hypnotherapist and an NLP (neuro linguistic programming) practitioner and also practises emotional freedom technique (EFT) and integral eye movement therapy (IEMT) as well as being a counsellor, specialising in children’s mental health.

The spacious building in the town centre has therapy rooms that are comfortable and welcoming with a calming atmosphere, unaffected by the day-to-day hustle and bustle of life.

Many of her clients are self-referred or visit her on recommendation from friends and family and while she does take referrals from GPs, they often aren’t aware of the services and complementary therapies she provides.

Les said: “Now that we are slowly coming out of lockdown and the restrictions are lifting, anxieties are at an all-time high for both adults and children, so this is an ideal time to be talking about mental health issues.

“Having worked in an integrated therapy team with the NHS, I have seen first-hand how early intervention is paramount.

“I know how effective wellbeing classes and workshops can be for both adults and children suffering with mental health related issues.

“With targeted holistic therapies, my clients can be treated with excellent results.

“It’s often fast moving with speedy results and all about changing the thought processes and removing the emotions – it’s an investment in yourself.”

Les offers a free initial consultation whether clients are affected by anxiety, sleep disorders or addiction problems, with most people receiving hypnotherapy.

As well as her therapy and counselling services, Les works two a week in a primary school working with children and young people as they return to normal life following lockdown.

She has also co-ordinated the telephone counselling service for MIND since June last year.

Les said: “Children wellbeing classes are devised to help children gain a greater understanding of their general wellbeing, learning to combat anxieties and stresses, helping to build confidence, social and emotional skills for a healthier future.

“Each class focuses on positive outcomes, encouraging children to join in at their own pace.”
