LET'S get St Helens Back to Work.

That's the message in a new campaign led by the St Helens Star and backed by key partners to help business recover from the pandemic and people return to the jobs market.

Throughout the last year, we have been running campaigns encouraging readers to support our brilliant businesses – the lifeblood of all our communities, town centres and high streets.

Now in a six-week initiative, the Love Local Jobs campaign will be offering free recruitment advertising to local businesses.

As Covid restrictions ease, your St Helens Star, its sister titles and our parent companies – digital marketing arm LocaliQ and Newsquest – are aiming to boost employment across the region to get our communities back to work after the toughest of times.

We have partnered with Ways to Work St Helens, St Helens Chamber, St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and A Star Recruitment to offer employers with recruitment opportunities free adverts to find their ideal candidates.

This six-week campaign will also see recruitment experts offer jobseekers top tips on how to secure roles and feature news about the latest employment opportunities in St Helens or neighbouring areas.

There will be advice on ways to improve your CV, prepare for an important interview and promotion of job opportunities across the area.

Andrew Kilmurray, editor of the St Helens Star, said: "The Love Local Jobs campaign is all about helping our loyal readers and advertisers get back on their feet after the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to a sharp rise in unemployment.

"We are offering free adverts to help job-hunters see the full range of opportunities. We want to help local businesses discover homegrown talent as they take steps towards recovering from an incredibly tough 12 months.

"It is so important that we work together as a community to rebuild the economy after a devastating period and we're delighted that a number of organisations have swiftly pledged their support to this campaign.

“Our new campaign is aimed at helping businesses find the staff they need and jobseekers to get back into employment as our economy continues to open up.

“The last 12 months have been incredibly challenging and while we can see a more positive outlook as the vaccine rollout progresses, we are also acutely aware of the challenges that remain.

"One of the issues faced by small businesses, particularly in the hospitality sector is the need to recruit staff to support what is likely to be a very busy summer season as more people opt for a staycation.
