THE M6 has been closed by a serious crash.
Emergency services have shut the motorway southbound between junction 20 at Lymm and junction 19 at Knutsford following the collision this afternoon, Wednesday.
Cheshire Police and the North West Ambulance Service are currently in attendance at the scene.
Congestion is reported back to junction 21 at Woolston, with 10-minute delays on the M6 northbound as a result of vehicles slowing to look at the accident on the opposite side.
One lane of the carriageway was closed initially, before the remainder of the highway was shut shortly after 4.30pm.
Meanwhile, three lanes of the M56 eastbound have also been blocked off after another crash.
Paramedics have been called to the incident between junction 10 at Stretton and junction nine at Lymm.
Updates to follow.
