A 23-year-old adventure athlete who is taking on a mammoth charity challenge by cycling around mainland Great Britain in just 42 days will arrive in Wirral this afternoon.

After completing a rowing challenge in 2020 which saw him and his Exe Endurow team row around the British coast, Harry Lidgley wanted to recognise the work and support given by lifeboat crews that he had encountered.

Harry started his cycling journey on May 1 from Royal National Lifeboat Institution in Poole and has already visited 54 lifeboat stations out of the 168.

So far he has managed to cycle 1,800km and climb hills totalling over 21,000m.

Yesterday he reached milestones, Holyhead in Wales and today he will be visiting Conwy, Llandudno, Rhyl, Flint, West Kirby and Hoylake.

To train for the epic 7,000km journey, that is equivalent to cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats five times and climbing over seven times the height of Mount Everest, Harry spent the winter as a Deliveroo cyclist.

So far Harry has managed to raise £2,235 out of his £5,000 target for Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
