THREE vehicles were involved in a crash near Windle Island on Tuesday afternoon (May 11).

Two fire engines attended the scene after the collision on the Rainford Bypass, with paramedics also called.

Five people were assessed but did not need to go to hospital and no one had to be cut out of any of the vehicles.

A Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Crews were alerted shortly after 4.30pm. Two fire engines were sent to the scene.

"On arrival crews found three vehicles had been involved in a collision close to Windle Island.

"All occupants of the vehicles were out when crews arrived."

She added: "Five people were assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.

"Fire crews left the scene at 5.24pm."
