A CLINICAL hypnotherapist has launched a new hypnotherapy service on Newton High Street to help people overcome stress and post-lockdown anxiety.

Chris Skoyles, who runs CJS Therapy in Liverpool, has opened up a second practice in his hometown of Newton-le-Willows to offer mental health and well-being support to his community.

The launch of the new practice comes at the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 (May 10-16)

The campaign, managed by the Mental Health Foundation, is an annual event and this year’s theme is Connecting With nature, with organisers promoting the benefits of spending time in The Great Outdoors.

“Spending time outdoors can be a wonderful way of increasing our levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter which acts as a mood regulator and plays an important role in improving our mental well-being, reducing anxiety, and increasing positive mood,” says Chris. “Indeed, many of us have experienced first-hand how beneficial getting outside can be in terms of helping us deal with the toll that a year full of lockdowns can take on our mental well-being.

“Here in Newton-Le-Willows, we’re fortunate to have access to multiple areas of natural beauty, but for those struggling with anxiety about adapting to life after lockdown, the thought of spending time in busy parks may only cause more concerns. Fortunately, clinical hypnotherapy offers many of the same benefits. Combining clinical hypnosis with solution-focused, modern psychotherapy, I work with clients to raise their serotonin, minimise their stress levels, and overcome anxiety.

“The result is that clients enjoy feeling more calm, confident and in control of their lives.”

Chris will be running clinical hypnotherapy sessions from his practice on Newton High Street on Mondays and Tuesdays.
