TWO people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the leg.

Police cordons are currently in place after officers received a report at around 5pm that a man had been assaulted at an address on Lord Street, St Helens.

Emergency services attended and found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his leg.

 

He was taken to hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

A 42-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from St Helens, have been arrested on suspicion on section 18 wounding.

 

They were taken into custody and will be questioned by police.

Officers remain at the scene while forensic enquiries are carried out.

 

Detective Inspector Leanne Hobin said: “This was an appalling attack leaving a man hospitalised.

“I would like to reassure the community that we have two people in custody and our investigation is ongoing.”
