A GROUP of a people – including a sister and a brother – who travelled from Manchester to St Helens and murdered dad-of-one are to be sentenced today (Friday).

Warren Glover, 33, was attacked on Saturday, June 13, 2020 on French Street at its junction with Thompson Street, Toll Bar.

Liverpool Crown Court heard he was the victim of a "revenge" attack over text messages he sent to ex-girlfriend, Melissa Stubbs.

Melissa, her brother Aaron Stubbs, friend Stephen Strutt, and Peter Walker, were charged with murder.

Following a six-week trial, a jury found the four guilty last week.

A fifth defendant Sarah Clarke, 30, was found guilty of assisting an offender, after hiding Strutt, her partner, at a Blackpool hotel as police searched for him after the murder.

On the night of the attack, Merseyside Police say that at around 10.15pm, three men and a woman arrived in a grey Kia Sportage, before assaulting Warren with weapons in the quiet residential street.

The attack left him with serious head injuries and unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he died three weeks later on Tuesday, July 7.

Those convicted are as follows:-

-Aaron Stubbs, 30, of Lane End Road, Manchester was found guilty of murder

-Melissa Stubbs, 29, of Lane End Road, Manchester was found guilty of murder

-Stephen Strutt, 39, of Chester Avenue, Stalybridge was found guilty of murder

All four were remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday, April 30 for sentencing.

Sarah Clarke, 31, of Chester Avenue, Stalybridge was found guilty of assisting an offender.

Clarke was bailed, with conditions, and will be sentenced at court on Friday, May 21.
